Wiring mystery Audio fail
Okay, i bought a 1985 Camaro Rs off of a do-it-urselfer, but he claims to not have touched anything audio, and he handed it over to me with the stock stereo, and i liked it and it sounded terrific but i just couldn't deal with cassette tapes and i got a very nice stereo waiting for it.
i began to take it out and made notes on a pad of what went where so i could wire it to fit with my new stereo, and after hooking it up it wouldn't work, i first tried to turn it on and the main screen blinked and that was all that happened, and shut off. i had my electrical friend test the stereo, which was fine. and so i checked voltages in the wires, i even tapped negative to positive, and everything was as it should be, so why won't this thing work? all of the relays and all of the fuses are fine too, and corrosion is minimal everywhere i've checked
also where does the positive cables on battery cables go? im replacing engine and didn't expect it to turn out like that rather than go directly into the harness

Re: Wiring mystery Audio fail
Nobody has ever encountered this problem? or nobody has any clue what might be causing this problem? i once heard from an old cable worker there could be hidden corrosion in a wire and it will cause the voltage to be appropriate until a load is applied. anybody agree with this? if nobody can get me a good answer im just going to tear apart the wires and wire it in by hand directly from the battery through a custom fuse box and switch

With the radio OFF, where the power cable enters the radio connect a voltmeter across the + and ▬ leads.
Now turn the radio on (or try to) and observe the voltmeter.
If the voltage stays about 12 you know you have good power.

When you see fog or “running” lights on in good weather beware. Low performance driver ahead.
How bout those nitwits too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime
and the nitwits that need headlights for a little rain
