speedometer not working after engine swap

didn't know where to post this so if this is not the right place feel free to move it.
i have done numerous searches but did not come up with a good answer so i was hoping some of you could help me
i have a 92 rs and i replaced the TBI 305 with a carbed 350 and everything is working except the electronic speedometer. does the ecu have anything to do with the speedometer and if so what can be done to make it work without the ecu.
i have read on here about several people switching to carb and eliminating the ecu.

any help is appreciated

The ECM doesn't, but the VSS in the tranmission does. You didn't cut any wiring, did you?
