Re: vats problem
Easier to install VATS bypass module that does away with VATS altogether by supplying the correct signal to computer

Re: vats problem
yeah i know but i tried doing that pellet thing with resistance and changining the vats module but havent got i runnining yet fairly new to the whole vats thing. Always liked the idea of mass air anyways. So do u think the harness connecter will fit in the firewall next the brake booster . I know for sure i need the computer and an esc . thanks for any help

Re: vats problem
I may be entirely wrong here but I think the harness that needs to be changed is the fuel injection harness and the computer for it. the main parts of the rest are the same except maybe for the starter relay behind the driver kick panel. Just make sure that it is the right type of injection MAF or MAP Speed Density and swap to the earlier matching FI wiring and computer. This wiring goes through the body behind the passenger kick panel area. If the computer is not changed out then it will still be seeking the vats signal as that is part of the programming. Or an alternative is to send the computer (ECM) to somebody and have them do a vats delete then bypass the starter relay. Or still by a VATS bypass module that would be wired up to the Vats enable wire on the ECM.

Re: vats problem
There would be no need in swapping harnesses I wouldn't think - just swapping chips. But that assumes keeping the same system, and I'm guessing you are saying you'd rather have a MAF system instead of a SD system? Most folks switch the other way I thought, b/c there's more can be done with a SD system.
But that is a WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE to simply get rid of VATS, when a VATS bypass is easily gotten, cheap, and a very easy install.

Re: vats problem
well its because i can get a fuel injection harness and computer for cheap from an 88 iroc which has no vats and ive already tried all of the things you all have suggestedand no luck so does anyone think that the connecter next to the fire wall is the same for 88 -91 will it just plug in directly

Re: vats problem
So you've tried the bypass with resistors, as well as a seperate VATS bypass module, and neither worked? You must not have it wired correctly, or else got the wrong bypass module (there are 2 different frequencies 30Hz and 50Hz - most these days do either freq).
What's the issue - is it a starting issue or a running issue? Maybe it's not VATS related at all. What happens if you turn on the key, and jump the starter directly from battery? (ie use a 10ga wire, touch pos battery terminal and at same time touch starter terminal that has the purple wire on it)
