Repair Bad Alternator?
I have a chromed out 140amp powermaster alternator that I have only put around 5k miles on but the warranty is expired. When I was changing my FPR last week, I accidentally shorted the battery to the alternator casing and I'm pretty sure I damaged it. At 2500rpm, the alternator is only outputting around 12.2v and I'm pretty sure this number should be higher around 14v. At idle, the voltage will drop to around 11.8v. I have stock pullies. Its outputting just enough juice to keep the motor running but it doesn't charge the battery properly. When you try to start the car it almost sounds like its not going to crank then finally fires up. Sometimes you have to jump the car in order for it to start.
Is it possible to take the alternator apart and replace the voltage regulator?

If this is the same type alt that came on the car originally, it probably needs a diode trio. Fairly cheeeeep & eeeeeeeeeezy to replace.
Probably not the regulator. Those almost never go bad.

Re: Repair Bad Alternator?
Sorry guys my mistake. It was the 100Amp version. Looks like It's a 12si style:

Where would I find the diode cluster for this thing?
EDIT: Looks like I found it. But is a diode trio a diode trio or is there a "Stay away" market for these things?

Also, can anyone point me in the direction of a guide to dis/re-assemble this thing?
