headlights pop up when not on
Hey everyone,
So on my 1991 firebird when I hit my parking lights my headlights pop up. I have had several of these cars and this is the only one to do this. I've replaced the headlight switch and it still does it. Any ideas? I would like to have my parking lights on with out my headlight doors up. Thanks for any help

Did you check the wiring to the switch? If there are bare spots it could be passing current to the wire that raises your headlights. Your parking light wire also goes to your fog light switch. If you run 12 volts to that brown wire head lights wont' turn on, but your lights will raise (pop up) when the parking lights turn on.
Had lighting issues tonight and ran 12 to the parking wire from fog light switch to check circuit and they head lights popped up.
If all wiring is good, check your light control box under hood, located next to the wiper motor on the firewall driver side. It will have two wiring harnesses one on left and other on right.

I don't have a rational reason for why the problem of the motors energizing when you push on the parking lights happens. I suspect it is either an internal issue with the headlight switch or the headlight module. I can tell you that two of my customers mentioned in their review of my TDS 209280 deluxe headlight headlight kit that when they repaired their headlight motors using the kit it also solved the "parking lights on" mode of the switch causing the headlight motor to rise issue they were having.
