Lighter; fuse blows

I hope this is an easy fix..it seems as if evertime I plug something into my lighter to charge it; zune, phone, etc. ..the fuse blows. I've never gone about anything like this before. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Lighter; fuse blows

The socket is shorting out. Happened to me. I took it out and on the inside you should see tabs. Try bending them back a little, reconnecting then plug something in. Worst comes to worst, you can always just buy a new socket and replace it.

Theres 4 torque screws I think that hold the cover on then the socket should come out after unclipping the wires. Pretty easy fix.

The cigarette lighter is a common problem on our cars (a search will provide more info). The pics in the following link might be helpful:

Thanks man! I took it out once and made sure everything was fitting tight but I think that one of the metal clips that comes in contact with the lighter is broken.. I'll see if I can get a good enough picture then I'll post it on here.
