Drivers door locks when ignition is switched to run.
I have a 92' Firebird that has a pretty annoying feature. When you turn the key to run just the drivers door locks, It caught me off guard the day I bought the car and thought I had locked the keys it the car! luckily the passenger door was still unlocked
.
Is this a security feature? and is it something that can be easily disabled?

not sure when they started doing the locking and unlocking but i want to say it was on the gear shift when they did. you may find a aftermarket security system installed if you look under the drivers dash

It might be an aftermarket system, but honestly I've never seen anything up under the dash that looks suspect. stickers on both the drivers and passenger door read "protected by black widow" but I never really paid any attention to it.

You can trace the blue wire at the Lock Relay located behind the left shroud.
Physically trace and look for splices to lead you to the module.

They like to put the alarm system in the kick panel on the drivers side.
A typical alarm system cannot just be ripped out. There is some rewiring to be done. I have seen them professionally removed and when they showed me a complete harness, what looked like two relays and the main module there must have been at least 20 feet of wire.

depending on the features it could be wired into the trunk or hood harness or starter enable circuits too
