Farmer Rigged wiring, need help!!
Hello all, I have a 1989 Camaro RS that was swapped into a 305 (bought it after swap). Anyways a lot of the wiring is "farmer rigged" and I was not aware (my mistake). Anyways here are the problems.
1. The power wire from my HEI distributor runs down to the fuse box and was "modified" to sit on a random spot on the fuse box for power when i turn the key on. There problem here is the car will not shut off (engine keeps running) if the gauge fuse is in. If I take the gauge fuse out (or it is blown) the car shuts down just fine. Where does this wire go to (the wire from the distributor)? As of right now I have this wire sitting on the back of the fuse box plugged into the "IGN" section.
2. I have a regular belt set up for my V8 and the alternator has the 2 wire (Red and black) prong plug in it. I traced the black wire down to my fuse box where it was plugged into the back of my fuse box where the "IGN" was. I have been told this little black wire is supposed to go to the back of the Gauge fuse or go to the starter solenoid. I have no clue but when I put it on the gauge fuse I cant shut my car off. If I leave this wire off or touch it to anywhere but the gauge fuse the alternator dips down really low.
I am really confused as I do not know much about wiring and am just starting out on cars. If you could please help me it would be much appreciated.

Lose The Fuse
Power for the distributor is supposed to come from the ignition switch, pink wire
which is also connected to the coil.
If you are saying, in addition to the engine not shutting off, it won’t start without the GAGES fuse, you must restore to stock the wiring route I described.
Apparently the PO had a problem he couldn’t solve.
The PO might have installed a wire from the GAGES fuse to the distributor to use as a ‘Hot In Run’ line.
Therefore after you restore the wiring route I described, remove the PO installed connection to the GAGES fuse.
