HELP! VATS Bypass from Override Motorsports

HELP! Looks like one of the contacts broke in my column ignition cylinder last night and the dreaded 'SECURITY' light came on and no crank. I have looked into the Vats bypass resister trick and came across a module made by Override Motorsports. They are on ebay, but when I googled them, they show closed permanently in Michigan, but the ebay listing shows an Arizona shipping address.

Anyone dealt with them before?

Re: HELP! VATS Bypass from Override Motorsports

Why not have it programmed out of your memcal ?
or http://www.bakerelectronix.com/products_vats/
If this is on your 91 the hz signal goes to pin f10 a blue wire at the ecm.

I am an electronic ignoramus when it comes to these things, so your last sentence might as well have been in Greek! This is a daily driver that I need rolling pronto, and I can't get it to someone to reprogram the ECU if I can't start it. Do you know how the Baker unit installs?

As fast as I know the baker one has a 3 wire hookup. Frequency a blue wire to the ecm. A accessory power and ground.
this one might work too

You can use a6 as a power for the module and any one marked ground.

Re: HELP! VATS Bypass from Override Motorsports

AAAAND... wouldn't you know it, the damn thing fired right up tonight!! I thought I would 'give it one more shot'- you know, what we all do when we go out to start these 30 year old cars in the morning(!) and it turned over like a horny old lady! The day I had this issue, the ignition key pulled out of the ignition while the engine was running, with no problems- the engine kept running- so I put it back in and parked it. That's when I had issues on restart- anyone have this problem or experience something similar?? I am stumped, but I am still going to bypass this damn VATS!!!

Re: HELP! VATS Bypass from Override Motorsports

That’s odd, but glad it started back up.
this is one way to bypass it, just read the description it has emissions deleted.

Re: HELP! VATS Bypass from Override Motorsports

If the vats wire in the column breaks it is close enough to sometimes still make contact. Just install a new ignition tumbler with the vats wire and new key and all will be fixed. No need to bypass if fixed correctly.
