Sorry to ask, but what is this wire/conector under dash? (photos)
under my dash on the drivers side I found this unplugged connection. purple and black wire with a black connector. It appears that it was never connected because there is no scuffing/witness marks on it , but I am curious as to what the heck it is for. I looked briefly at the huge electrical wiring schematics in my 1987 Gm shop-tech manual, but got a headache searching.
the connector has two wires. a black(or brown) wire and a purple wire that both go into a connection and come out of the connection as a blue and brown. the wires then go to the firewall, and through a grommet into the engine bay.. probably into a wire loom under the brake booster. the location of the 2in-2out wire connection is just above the brake pedal.
does anyone recognize this? I am wondering if it is for cruise control.. which my car never had... ? or something else?
thanks guys

ah-ha! that is it, makes total sense. I unplugged that probably 12-14 years ago when i ditched the fog lights in the grill. I probably tied it up an away and somehow it wiggled itself loose and I just noticed it while doing stuff under the dash the other day. also make sense that it is only 2 wires, in/out to the toggle switch which has also been unused for a good 12-14 years. odd place for it to go through the firewall though, via a grommet by the brake pedal and not loomed in with other wires that run through the firewall...... but oh well.
thanks guys. much appreciated. I will label it and tuck it away. or actually, I might just remove it completely since it is not connected to the lights.

I think it was 88 or maybe 89 that GM integrated the fog light wiring into the headlight harness. It complicates things a bit, because with it integrated you've got the dash side of the harness, then you've got the engine compartment side, with the split at C100. It requires two different headlight harnesses, instead of just installing an self contained harness.
