4th Gen Power Mirrors in a Third Gen?
Has anyone swapped in the power mirrors from a 4th gen into a third gen? I have a '91 and I'd like to have control over both sides from the driver seat.
Seems like it should be simple enough right? (I know... famous last words)

Sorry I don’t know anything about the swap other than I think c4 mirrors are a direct bolt on.. You might get a service manual for a diagram of the circuit.
You could source power mirrors on corvette forum classifieds section c4 or eBay.

No problem. The suggestion helped me find out a bit more information anyway. It looks like the motors themselves were used in a variety of vehicles around that time. (Camaro, Corvette, Fiero, etc...) I found a cheap pair of 4th gen mirrors on Ebay with the wiring harness and I am going to roll the dice.
Hopefully I can do a retrofit... I'll update here when I get them in and find out more. Thanks!

The pad has four directional buttons for movement and the slider under it shifts between mirrors.. Unless of course you only have manual mirrors?

Ah, didn't know they had those on later cars. Good luck with the project!

If you want to be old skoo... you could get the manual remote mirror for a caprice classic (80s vintage) for the passenger side... no wiring involved

That looks pretty sharp punkmaster!
My idea was to use the internal bracket/motors from a 93+ in the housing on my 91.
I received my salvage pair in the mail this week. I have all the wiring figured out with my aftermarket switch. The problem is going to be the mounting of the mirror plate onto the motor inside my housing. They're completely different bracket assemblies/mounting locations/etc...
Playing with some AutoCAD now in order to figure it out. Will probably end up with some sort of adapter plate.

Re: 4th Gen Power Mirrors in a Third Gen?
The stock uncontrolled passenger's mirror is convex. Effectively it's like a blindspot mirror, curved for a larger field of vision. Maybe if a person is above average height, or rides with the seat in an awkward position, it could be an issue, but for most people they shouldn't need to adjust the passenger's side mirror.
I've had a few with power mirrors and a few without. More often than not the power mirrors bug me more than the non-power because they get bumped out of position, or the switch barely works, or the motors freeze up. The remote driver's and fixed passenger's is trouble free (usually).

Re: 4th Gen Power Mirrors in a Third Gen?
The fourthgen mirrors require allot of modifications to install. first you have to use the Firebird models as the Camaro versions were molded to fit part of the fender and do not fit/look right. Second they mount in the window corner which requires fabricating a custom bracket and welding the old holes shut on the door skin. A couple members have done it and i purchased a set but changed my mind after seeing them mounted on my car
C4 are a direct bolt in and offer there mirror with a defroster which neither the fbody or Fiero had as an option. The Fiero is basicly he same as the fbody mirror with a slightly different plastic piece at the base mounting point but all three will inter change
