1989 camaro rs

All the blinkers on the car work fine. That is until I turn my lights on. Then the side right blinker blinks out of sync to the front right blinker (only when lights are on). And when this happens the front right blinker blinks on for about 3 seconds, then off, then the side blinker comes on for about 1 second. And then it repeats.

not sure what is causing this, if anyone has any suggestions, all would be appreciated.

 

Check the grounds for the headlights and turn signals. They are typically located under the hood near the lights.

I know this is gonna sound crazy , but , I've got the wiring diagram to prove it , , , the front side markers ARE supposed to blink out of sync with the turnsignals when the parking lights are on because that's exactly how GM wired them .

The speed at which they blink sounds like a problem for sure , and needs investigating , but the simple fact that the front side markers blink opposite of the regular turn signals with the lights on is clearly shown by what you'll see at the bottom left of this diagram . Like RBob said , as far as the slow blinking speed , a bad ground or bad bulb(s) could be at fault there ........

 

So the blinker that was working correctly, had a ground connected to a blot. Where as the other blinker had it's ground run into the wiring loom. So I've just run a new ground for the one that wasn't blinking properly and that has fixed it for now.
