Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

How tightly should the set screw be torqued? The reason I ask is because these will collapse in an accident; I don't want to tighten it so much that it somehow impedes that action.

The set screw should be snug to take out any play. Trust me that little screw won't stop anything in a collision.

I'm considering this. I'm from Tally too. This wouldn't be a bad idea when I'm replacing my steering box. Do you need mine as a core?

It was less then 24 hours between PM and your post, please keep in mind i do have a life somewhere in between selling these.
Responded & Shipped.

Thanks.

This brings up a point, i sell these on many different message boards as well as through e-mail.
I try to sell on a 1st come 1st serve basis so i have to go through many PMs and E-Mails to see who contacted me 1st before i respond with payment info. I do my best to respond quickly but sometimes life & work get in the way.

All out of this batch, PM me to get on the list for the next batch.

Once you have notched the steering column for a jeep shaft, can a GM shaft be used?

Is the GM shaft better than the Jeep shaft I got? My jeep shaft seems to have play where the slip fitting is.

If so, how much shipped to 03079 ?

As with everything i sell these will be prepped, painted, greased and ready to install.
These GM units will be $70 shipped to the lower 48.

I only have 2 of these in stock so hurry.
PM me if your interested, please title it GM Shaft.
I have a question, I've purchased a shaft from you awhile back, and I like the fit and finish of the product, but are these units CLOCKED? I saw a youtube vid that states that they need the end ground down so it can be knocked off repositioned slid back on and tack welded, do you perform this operation on every unit?

No Bro, it's nothing like that, I was curious if you did all that during your preparation of the shafts, that's all, thanks for your time, and Great product!

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

OK Just making sure everything was good.

This was discussed in an earlier post.

I clean them up, remove the column end, re-clock it 90 degrees, press it back on and tack weld it just to make sure its not going anywhere. Then i clean the bolt threads, spread the ends & test fit on a steering column, sand & paint them gloss black. Before shipping i grease the inside of the shaft, wrap both pieces in foam and stretch wrap for shipping.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

So what is your current stock like right now? I pulled my s/s out for engine bay work and don't want that sloppy dirty thing going back into my car.
