this is approximately what your car will look like with a small block under the hood.
this is my 84 sport coupe, taken back in october when i first put a deposit on the car. at the time, it was equipped with a 350 and v6 front springs.

Spring replacement was one of the last things done to my car before the V6 block cracked. I thought I could get away with them when the V8 went in.
Although the ride height looked okay, the thing was constantly bottoming and handled terrible. The old V8 springs from the donor car were a vast improvement.
It's not just the ride height, it the spring rate as well. Several guys have said they kept the V6 springs, but I have yet to hear of anyone that went from V8 springs to V6 springs and raved about the improvement.

i have a set of ws6 springs for up front, but not putting them in until this winter.
i'll get some new pics once i get the engine dropped in.

to answer your question, in addition to copressing the spring wiht a compressor, i believe you will have to pull the tie rods and lower the conrtol arms to get them out.
Did you read my private message i sent you about he motor? I didnt see that you live in ohio. Even though im not asking anything for this lo3 because i need it out of my parents garage ASAP, the shipping might be kinda pricy to get it from nj to ohio. I could probably have it shipped to a depot near your location but it would probably be around 300 dolars or so. I dont know if its worth it for an L03 w/ 118k. Check with the local salvage yards. For a hundred dollars more, you could probably get a 350 w/ similar mileage. Im sure some of the other guys will chime in on this.

I havent changed mine yet...but it is for sure on the list. The car is very loose up front. It really dives in the corners...I think it looks ok, but handling sucks,.

I'ld go 350...........
I agree, I found a 350 complete motor out of a large van with only 32,000mi that was hit in the rear end. I got the whole motor for only $500.
