Although it has nothing to do with swapping engines, It's hard to sqeeze a little over 100mph outta one.

just kidding get 2 more cylinders or get a blower. Im not sure if they make them for a 2.8 though.

Exactly. If you are really interested in performance than stop wasting your time with a v6. You will only dissapoint yourself. Look into swapping a v8 in there.
