What engine does your '87 have in it?

Any particular issues with your current engine?

Okay, the '91 will have a TBI set-up, 170 horse. You will have to change out everything associated with the computer - harnesses, sensors, relays, fuel lines, fuel pump (in the tank), etc., etc., etc. The TBI engine has a poor cam, poor heads, poor exhaust (much like what you've got), although the shortblock is basically the same as yours (slightly higher compression). It will be a lot of work for an engine that isn't much better than what you have.

Fix the carb, and if you're worried about a mere 136k miles, go find a 350 to put in under your carb. Much better bang for the buck.

If the '91 has a carb on it, it's been hacked up to some degree. Trust nothing, verify everything. It could very well be he doesn't know the difference between a carb and TBI, however.

A Holley 450 cfm Economaster is not emissions legal on any '87 US car.

Know absolutely what it is before spending any money on it. Get casting numbers, etc.
