Crossfire Injection to LT1 !
I just got my hands on a complete LT1 top end set up. I still need to get the wiring harness and an ECU. It will be going into my 82 CAMARO Z28. My question is, I want to go with a 383 stroker for the bottom end but can I use pretty much any early 350 four bolt main or do I need a late model block to build off of ? Is there any other mods I should be aware of for this swap to work ? My next questsion is, can I still use the 700r4 thats currently in there now or do I need another type of transmission ? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

LT1 heads will not bolt on a Gen1 block unless you have some major machine work done on them to cut water passages in them.

LT1 heads will bolt right up, but yea, you have to do something with the cooling passages. It’s really not that hard though, just fill the 2 holes in the deck surface and then decide where you want to run your coolant from and drill (either add the coolant crossover passages, or if you’re going with the LT1 manifold then just drill the coolant passages in the front of the head and skip the whole intake conversion hassle).
700r4… sure, just use a TPI TB so you have a linkage for the TV cable and you may have to do some modification of the cable bracket.

Just a quick add...
If you're gonna do a 383 project you should use a 350 2 bolt block and some aftermarket "splayed" main caps. If you're doing a 383 you're gonna have it align-bored on the mains anyway, right? A splayed cap block is much stronger than a factory 4 bolt block. I have seen high rpm dirt track cars crack the block between the bolt holes on the left side of the crankshaft with factory 4 bolt blocks.
Just my two cents...
