Need a new v6

I have a 86 camaro with a 2.8l v6, I haven't had it looked at yet but I was told two of the rods were busted. I was looking into some v8 engines but the process seemed too difficult and would consume too much money, so I decided just to get another v6. What I was wondering was if anyone would be able to recommend some decent v6 engines, that would be able to produce the most amount of horsepower, the least amount of changes I would have to do under the hood and without breaking my wallet (only plan on spending 1k on engine). Thanks

You could do this engine with no mods at all...

Pretty much any 87-up F-body or S-truck 2.8/3.1/3.4 fuel injected rear drive engine is a drop in. This is the easiest swap for you because you only need the long block (block with heads bolted on) from the above engines for your car because all accessories will bolt right on. You'll be running again in no time.

The 3.4 is very plentiful near me in central Florida from the 93-95 4th gen cars. If I were you I'd go this route, especially because you are on a budget.

Good luck!

It does say, 'On "F" cars and "S" trucks: A) remove oil pan and replace
with part number 10078999, B) remove oil pump screen assembly and
replace with part number 10118624, C) use oil level indicator from
replaced engine.'

Cools thats what I was hoping to hear, I seen the 3.4 recommended a few times, but didn't know it was basically a direct bolt in.

hehehe

I always considered the oil pan to be a crankcase dust cover on those engines, anyway! I would only use the long block on any swap into our cars. I'd then re-use all of the accessories and tin work from the original engine to make it a factory fit.
