The port behind the intake manifold to the left of the distributor.

Looks like the right part.
The port is on the china wall surface for the back of the intake. Look again, it's there on all SBC's.

I found the port, but it looks like 1/8'' port which is to small for the sensor. Is that the right port and the sensor and the L98 block just has a bigger port there?

It's an oil galley port. It was used for oil pressure for a couple of decades. In the 3rd gen years, another port was added down by the oil filter.
Go ahead and get an adapter for it. An elbow may help with clearance.

Re: Where does the Oil Switch Go????
I've got almost the same question as the original poster.
I'm swapping in my 327. My 1988 305 TBI had oil pressure sender (I think for the dash gage) in the oil galley port close to the distributor AND an oil pressure switch near the oil filter.
So I'm using the port by the distributor in the 327 but still need somewhere to put the oil pressure switch in the 327 that was near the 1988 305 oil filter. The 327 does not have a port there. Any thoughts? I don't think there is room for a tee near the distributor/firewall.
What happens if I don't connect anything to the harness where it is expecting to see the switch near the filter? Will this keep the engine from running right or just throw a code?
Thanks.

Re: Where does the Oil Switch Go????
you guys are gonna get a kick out of this.....i JUST put my built 327 in my 91 t/a
what i did....
--used a copper line kit from sunpro that i bought at autozone...
--installed that into the rear of the block and ran between the upper and lower tpi intake plenums.
--then, using a adapter from male 1/8" npt male to 1/4" npt female(from autozone behind the counter)
--i mounted the sending unit using a custom bracket to the valve cover bolt(centerbolt)

H8R,
Neat. That looks like the switch that was near the oil filter. Do you also have the sending unit that originally was near the distributor hooked up? Are you using a tee?
At least there is already one there on TBI engines.

Re: Where does the Oil Switch Go????
no need for multiple sending units.....just that one
Re: Where does the Oil Switch Go????
Thanks for the help. But, it seems different on TBI. TBI has two separate oil pressure senders/switches.
I will go over to the TBI board and ask some of those guys...
Thanks again.

Re: Where does the Oil Switch Go????
The 87 LG4 (and I assume earlier L69s) put both the sender and the OPS on the fitting coming from the china wall. Used a three way brass 90. I picked up replacement fittings at the local AZ for a 350 swap into an 87 LG4 in order to use the LG4 engine management controls. If you need a photo, I could probably snap one later if it quits raining.
