non-third gen engine swap question

Sorry about the non-third gen question, but this board seemed closest to what I was looking for.

It has always been my understanding that the Prowler was grossly underpowered. Could you yank the engine and throw, say, an LS1 in it? It would be nice for a car that looks that fast to actually have some *****. Ya' know?

I am sure we both know anything is possible with money. LS-1s as we probibly both know also need their own t-56 tranny with special bellhousing and hydrualic throwout bearing which would make puting one in a car with a rear mounted engine and transaxel nearly imposible. Chevy is putting FWD LS1 in the 2002 impalas(note the disgusted look on my face), so maybe, just maybe that would work. I totally agree, leave it to chryslers genius marketing team to desing one mean looking car with rear tires that look like they where desing to stick 400+ hp and for years put a weak v6 in that put out low 200 figures in torque and HP. Doesn't henesy make a killer prowler that wooped a C5 L06 baad.

Now by rear mounted engine do you mean an engine behind the driver? If so, such is not the case with the Prowler. Is the Prowler not RWD?
