This just keeps getting bigger and bigger

Well, still doing all my research, and I'm deffinately using a 400sbc. My goal was 450-500 with a tremec TKO rated up to 525tq behind it. But I'm doing a little more reasearch now, and it seems that with the 400 I should be able to make more power than I thought. I'm only looking to do this naturally aspirated. Key factor being that I need to pass emissions, sniffer on the dyno. I am going to run a miniram system for sure. I'm thinking of going with the GM Fast Burn heads(should they be ported and polished?), so far I've heard only the best about them. Obviously it's going to need a steel crank, but unfortunately this is where my knowledge ends. I've been working with bikes, and can put together a sweet bike engine if I want to. But unfortunately I'm not up to date with the good stuff for cars. I'm looking for good quality, but don't want to completely break the bank. I have the suspension and driveline laid out already. Ford 9", 3.42 gears(or in that area), posi, etc... And I believe I'm good to go with the exhaust

Call TPIS and see if the Mini-Ram can be made to work with the raised intake runners of the fast burn heads. If no dice, You're probably better off going with Mini-Ram + AFR's or Ram-jet intake + Fast Burns.

I would definitely call TPIS about emissions & cam recommendation. I think you're getting a little too focused on numbers if you want to pass smog. If it's street driven, peak numbers aren't as fun as a fat tq curve. JMHO....

Crap, I didn't even think about the runner problem. How much does the Ram-jet run? Similar in price to a Mini-Ram? It really does come across like I just want the numbers doesn't it? Whoops, that's not how it's supposed to sound. It will be mainly for the street, maybe the strip occasionally. I'd autocross it, but that's what the bikes are for. A good lot of torque is what I'm really looking for. I know that you can pass smog with numbers like that, you just need to have all the emissions stuff and fuel setup right. Because I've seen people from this board who live in CA and are able to pass with damn high numbers. And as we all know, CA sucks for emissions. I'm just trying to figure out what all I'll need so I can start figuring the rough total cost. Then decide where to start from there.
