I bought a 1989 Camaro that had a 91 truck 350, the exhaust doesn't bolt up and is loud as hell (don't get me wrong, i love the sound, but cops and neighbors don't). I took it to a couple exhaust shops and no one knows what to do. ANd one guy said he would charge me around $500 for just getting the y-pipe to connect. The manifolds are one size and the pipe is stock camaro pipes. Would 305 camaro manifolds work? The starter is right against the manifold. What would be the best way to fix this? Plus white smoke comes out of the gap when started and when I am at stop lights, it will also come out of the vents, which is not normal or healthy. Any ideas?

The 305 Manifolds will work but you might as well get some headers like Edelbrock or SLP and then you will have a Ypipe too. Stock 305 manifolds suck.

Yeah, the trucks had different manifolds that are designed for a much larger engine compartment. you will need something made for a camaro, some other passenger cars have similar manifolds, i know small block caprices mid-late eighties and till 93 have very close ones that you may be able to work with.

yeah, i'll see if anyone wants to tackle the headers, what would the smoke out of the exhaust be?

 

White smoke is caused by water/coolant leaking into your engine.... no fun...

 

is there an easy way to fix that? It is really embarrasing at stop lights, people all look over like my cars on fire or something? thanks
