Carburated 96ish Vortec swap
I am currently looking at possibly swapping in a early Vortec engine from a 96-97 truck. What all needs to be done? Can I reuse my oil pan , manifolds ,dist and q-jet from my carbed 305? Any extra's I need to get that wont work from my current engine? MY car is a NON-cc factory carb setup. Also does the block have mounting provisions for mechanical fuel pump?

Oil pan - yes.
Manifolds - Exhaust, yes (but should only be considered if originally TPI - otherwise, get headers, same as 3rd gen SBC); intake, no.
Carb - yes (if you get a spreadbore Vortec intake).
Distributor - yes.
Mechanical fuel pump - not sure, the boss may be there, but it may not be machined for the push rod and drain-back.
