Ya might wanna read that for a complete answer as to my position.

But basically can I start it on the 86 computer and drive it for like a week untill my 89 chip comes in. or will it not start/run on the 86 chip.

It should be fine. The cold start injector I think only comes into play in pretty cold weather, i.e. winter temps, so not having one should be OK since it's not controlled by the ECM.
