Engine Swap ?s Fourth Gen.
Ive got a 94 Camaro RS that i use as my daily driver. Ive owned the car for about ten years now and the car has 220000 miles on it. the body on the car has its normal wear and tare dings dents scratches paint chipping everywhere. So my question to you guys is i was thinking about repaint and redoing all the body work this summer myself. ive done autobody work for quite a few years now so it isnt that big of a deal to me but my question to you guys is it worth it? The reason i feel it might be worth it is when motor goes on the car i could do a full drivetrain swap. I no that the lt1 motor and trans kit you can find used set ups for relatively cheap. The car is an automatic but ideally id like to convert it to the t56 as well. Has anyone on here done it before? is it worth it? Is the overall structure of the 3.4 as strong as the LT1 or with doing a full swap id have to upgrade most of the suspension and everything too? Curious to see what you guys think because if you guys dont think its worth the time then ill just put more of my efforts towards my 84. I love the car regardless tho it is only a 6, but sometimes you gotta part with them if the money isnt worth it.
Thanks

Re: Engine Swap ?s Fourth Gen.
Maybe - but then again, how many folks said the same about a 3rd gen?
Maybe what five7kid is thinking is that there are so many 4th gens out there at a decent cost, that it would be better to sell and buy a 4th gen with the motor you want. I know my 1997 LT1 Z28 with auto I got for $2800, and that was 3 years ago.
If I am right, I think the 4th gen V8 has to be (or else is easier) to install from the bottom (dropping/reinstalling the whole subframe) - so a lift might be a necessity.
But in the end, I think I agree - not worth the trouble really, unless you are just super attached to that car.

Re: Engine Swap ?s Fourth Gen.
I do actually have a lift it my garage =) but figured the same thing. Ive seen complete motor and trans along with wiring harness go on craigslist for 1500 bucks in the past but its probably not worth the headache especially with the fourth gens going down in value
Thanks all
