The best bang for the buck

I have a 91 Camaro Convertible with a 305/auto TBI. It has 163k on the clock. It runs out very well. It doesn't leak a drop and only puffs smoke on a cold start up. I want to get a jump on the engine. I don't want to be cought with my pants down when the engine finally goes. I do want to swap to a 350 but thats all I know. I want to keep the TBI and keep it computer friendly. I don't have nor do I want exhaust. I want to keep it stock but I would like a little more kick. I have read the thread about the items needed for the swap. What I would like to know from the more experianced people out there is which motor and year do I want. What should I be looking for as a doner. I have time and money isn't an issue. I would like a roller rite? I just don't know. I could buy a crate 350 roller motor but isn't it more cost effective to rebuild it your self? I have a line on a low milage 96 truck 350 is that the one I want? So what I am asking is what motor I should be looking for and what did it come out of. Thanks and I'll keep you informed on my situation.
I LOVE MY "F"BODY

Re: The best bang for the buck

a low mileage vortec 350v8 roller motor out of a 96-99 truck. but if you have the money then go with a lt1 or a ls1-ls7 engine. and from what I have understand a t56 6-speed transmission. 3.73-4.10 posi-rear. JMO
