Question about starter

Hi everyone its been a while since i have posted. About a year and a half ago I had a 383 stroker installed into my 91 rs as well as eliminated the ecm and switched to a carb set up, I kept the old starter on it and now its finally decided to crap out on me my question is should I replace with a another stock starter or is their another option that would help the performance of my car. Also I know in therory how to replace the starter but I have never actually done it does anyone know of any good write ups that would be helpful.

Re: Question about starter

i have a off brand mini starter from summit, cant remember the brand but not much more than a standard starter, and spins my 406 over way better, its pretty easy to change, unhook positive cable from battery, unhook positive cable from starter and remove wires off of the solenoid, pull the 2 bolts and the starter should come right out

Re: Question about starter

Also keep track of the shims and the placement. It's always a good idea to check gap, but replacing the shims in the exact same order should be good starting point.

Normally your picks on starter types is limited by space requirements, such as long tube headers.

The factory Denso style mini starter from a 88-96 Vette is a popular replacement
