V6 to V8 wiring swap

I have a 89 Camaro that was a V6 car. I'm swapping in a 305 TPI, I have a wiring harness from the same year Camaro for the TPI V8. From what I can see in the wiring diagrams, this should just be plug and play correct? The V6 and V8 cars used the same dash harness correct?

Should be for the most part.

I don't believe TPI used the VSS buffer, not sure if V6 did (TBI I know did). Not sure if that would affect you.

The 3.1 doesn't use the buffer either, so should be good to go there.

The GM service manual has pin out charts for C100. It's not that complicated to look through the list and see what may be different between the two harnesses. I've looked through it a few different times, and know I have to physically verify some wires, but I'm also swapping from an auto to a manual trans, which makes things a little more complicated.

Personally I'd find the charts and verify it rather than take anyone's word online.

I've found charts online, and from what I've found they match up. I would just rather not fry my ecm lol.

My best friend, rdmotors, just did a 2.8L V6 swap to an LT1 with TPI and getting wiring charts and going through and labeling the differences between the pinouts is a HUGE help, I would highly recommend doing it. I think we were able to find the wiring charts online but I can't remember where we got them from.

The site that has some of the best info is http://shbox.com/
