mERLIN 509 CRATE
Will a Merlin 509 crate engine fit in a 88 F body? Those things come complete with modified Holly 870cfm, distributor,wires and plugs for $7495. If that won't fit, what will that is a real power house? My 383 has 5000 miles on it and runs great. I'm thinking about down the road when this one wears out. Maybe a 454?

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
It's just another big block so it'll fit with no problems. The biggest short deck BBC is 540 (stroked 509).
The only problem you will have is hood clearance. A cowl hool or a scoop will be required with that package.
