I picked it up from the harness right behind the rear seat before it goes through grommet in the sheetmetal. I wired the gray wire through a relay to come on with the ignition, and added a switch inline before the relay to turn off the pump for an emergency or when I neede the ignition on for a period of time without the pump running.

When I went to a carb setup from TPI, I found the fuel pump relay on the drivers side firewall. There is a grey wire coming off the relay into the car. I would venture to say this is the same wire that can be found under the carpet, but much more accesable. I wired up new relays to siplify things anyway. Put 12V to the wire, you should be able to hear the pump kick on.
