black, black and more black. And a bit of red.

Hi all.
Bromford Autos has a 91RS booked in for a new paint job at the end of July! Yes, after a 1 and a half year resto programme, it will finally be painted black by Karl and Lisa, with my now familiar bright red stripes all over it!
So, if anyone is thinking of having anything done there, before then-don't! Not even any accident repairs.
Could take about 3 weeks, but I don't care. 3 weeks out of my 6 week summer break is okay with me.

Wahaaay!

Andy.

PS No jealousy now.
PPS TPI next, followed by,.................hmmm.

Is the air suspension for the black or the red one?

The red one of course! But, then again,.............. NO, only joking.
A sport coupe sat on the floor? Oh yes. I can guarantee nobody has done that before to a lowy SC. Except perhaps in the States! (Lowcamaro I think).

I completely agree Phil.
"The meek (and mild?) will inherit the earth".

Sport Coupes rule! OK?

This reminds me of the Cinderella story. A lowly being becoming a star!!

Who needs ground effects anyway?

I think it takes a more dedicated eye to get "the look" right on an S/C or berlinetta, but they can work realy well, just look at Bubbacutz car.

Unfortunately, as in everything, it's only temporary...

So how's it going? It appears that EuroBoard is generating some traffic. I haven't been "across the pond" in a while, so I thought I'd check out what's happening in the east.

Rumor is that AirBorne Express is up for sale again. IS anyone there an L-1011 pilot? Should we start a parts exchange service?

I'm sure that a few Triumphs and MGs can be crammed onto pallets and up the gut of a freighter. And lots of ThirdGens can be scavenged and palletized for the return trip. No sense in running empty.

Seriously, any sever shortages of material happening (not counting fuel) ?

Not really.

we seem to have a shortage of common sense, but that is compensated for by our world leading work in the field of idiocy.

there is money to be made for people who are willing to work 400 hours a week, and sell their soul to the devil.
other than that, its status quo.

I'll concede that Britain might be leading the world, but you don't have the market cornered. The U.S. may be right on your heels, so you'd better be watching over your shoulder. And don't forget about the French... Also, remember that some idiocy is necessary, elsewise we wouldn't have a sense of humor. And everyone must admire the English funny bone.

I sometimes wonder if our government isn't operating a secret project on genetically engineered super-idiots (code named Project 1D-10T). It seems that some of these "career" politicians must have had some tweaking. That couldn't possibly have happend without some of the natural selection process being altered.

As for the initial question. how difficult is is to get common wear parts and supplies for foreign cars in the U.K.?

unbelievebly easy.

I live about 4 miles from USautomotive, a company specialising in American car parts. they have all service / consumable parts in stock, and can get pretty much anything for any US car in about a week maximum.

My Dad traded his Jaguar in for a 96 350 Chevy Tahoe, because parts were cheaper and easier to get (plus its cheaper to run, waaaaay more reliable, a better tow vehicle etc....)

i have never seen a European or Jap dealership even close to rival the spares backup for US cars...

Hi Vader,

How's it going? I certainly don't feel that we have the market cornered in anything apart from maybe motorsport engineering... oh and the SAS are pretty good. These days most of the bigger companies are US owned or sponsored over here. I work for Insight Direct, who bought Action Computers over here as they wouldn't have survived otherwise.

As for spares- they are easy to get hold of as Phil said but they are obiously more expensive. I always look at it as whatever you want to buy ends up costing in £'s what the price is in $'s. So Lakewood Lower Control Arms are say $100, by the time you pay any import taxes you are paying £100. Still represents good value though. For me to own and run anything with equivelent performance over here would cost far more in insurance, parts and servicing.

As for the sense of humour thing- well some of us do Vader, you ever watch any BlackAdder? or Fawlty Towers?

Felix

ok, Felix has a very good point, we do get raped in terms of price for US spares, but lets put something into perspective.

Camaro brake pads, in the US - $10, in the UK 10 pounds.
ford Focus brake pads (UK) 40 pounds
Mitsubishi evo 6 pads 100 pounds.

even though we pay about 50% more for our spares than you do, they are still normaly around 50% cheaper than for an official import European or Jap car.
