What starter do I need with Hooker 2210's

I took my old shortie headers off today and am trying to get he Hooker 2210's installed. It does not look like my full size starter is going to fit. Could someone give me a part number of a down sized starter preferably with the offset bolt pattern that will fit in there.

Many use the LT1 starter also. It is smaller and you can get it from a parts store easily.

I use an LT1 starter with my LT1 and Hooker long tubes. Fit's like a glove.

My 406 has the staggered bolt starter so I wasn't sure if and LT1 starter would work or not. Anyway I found the starter from a 1994 K-1500 Chevy halfton with a 350 has the small starter with the staggered bolt pattern and it worked out great.

Thats great. Now we know a couple of starters that will work in tight spots with the staggered bolt pattern.

I can imagine how tight it is. I was a bit concerned about how hot the starter would get being that close to the headers. Have you had any trouble starting after it has been driven for awhile?

No but if heat soak becomes a prob i am going to wrap the starter with a heat blanket to protect it. I am more worried about my brake lines---they are REALLY close in alot of places---but they will all be wrapped before summer.

I thought the brake lines were to close as well so I moved them a bit further away from the headers. I now have about 2 inches of clearance on the brake lines.

Here is a pic of my Hooker SC lt's installed with the downsized truck starter I used. It also shows how I ran the starter wiring in from the back of the engine.
