catback question?
Hey guys new here. I wanna get my catback soon as uncle sam gives me my tax return $$. After doin extensive research I have found out this solution 2 my car. tell me what you think: First off I have a bone stock (minus the k&n's) 86 iroc-z 4bbl carb with an LG4 engine. my cat converter is 2 1/2 inches. I wanna get american thunder 3in catback. a little problem arouse with the cat converter. Seein how my car has 86k miles on it I decided I am gonna buy a new cat converter (also will fit the 3in application), goin with Magna-Flow Highflow cat converter from jegs.com. Someone from 3gc.net message board suggest i add an adapter for when I do my headers at a later time. Drop in the 3in AE catback and bam my black beast will earn its name with its loud purr! what do u guys think of this setup. its gonna run me sum money but i feel it will be worth it. Any suggestions or whatever would be greatly appreciated! Im new to the car game but im slowly learning. Thanx in advance all!

Id say just go with the 3" now and use the adapter untill you can get headers and a 3" y-pipe. But from what I've noticed, you won't notice much gain from a catback on the lg4 without doing the y-pipe, its the worst part of the whole setup. With headers and a full 3" exhaust you'll notice a huge difference, I know I did. But anyway, go with 3" now with an adapter so you won't have to later.
