I could , except they would be different lengths from the motor and they are already welded.

@ ProtoMaster22 -What muffler(s) did you use? It looks like they say Magnaflow. How loud are they? Any drone?

Thanks,

Ok I'm sorta new to the world of third gens but I'm curious as to what and or where you got all the chassis reinforcement stuff for the underbody of the car? I know these cars are already pretty decent cone killers, but handling is a big part of going fast and I'm pretty sure that's why we're all in this right? I really like the exhaust and will more than likely attempt to copy this setup as mush as possible. Any info is appreciated.

I got my stuff from a couple of places.

I got my subframe connectors from Spohn. They are one of the top third gen component sites you'll find!

They also have the "wonder bar", springs, A-arms etc. Just about everything you'll need and 99% of it is direct fit. Very little from them needs any work though as with all after market part companies, you'll find the occasional part that doesn't fit quite right.

Ok awesome! Those sites are gonna help a lot! Although the crossmember from the site doesn't look like its notched like the one on that IROC, it's just straight, I guess a guy with a little know how and the right equipment could probably figure something out though.

I used a Hawks T 56 cross member for my t5. My only gripe is I do not have t56 yet.

Re: Third Gen Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

I'll try to make a long story short...the Y pipe was cut out on my 90 Formula and a section of the exhaust was missing. In putting the pieces of the puzzle back together, I order a Dynomax dual cat kit from Summit Racing. Is there a special type of hanger that I need for one of the cats? Something's missing...go e-z on this female Forum member...restoring my deceased nephew's 90 Formy as a labor of love and new to the world of 3rd gens!

Re: Third Gen Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

Found out it needs part #GM 10081609, which is a hanger for the catalytic converter. However, I plug this number in everywhere-Hawks, Summit, Classic Industries, etc., and no one has this. E-mailed GM parts to see if by chance the part # changed...in the meantime, if anyone has a picture of what this part looks like, I'd be very appreciative!

http://parts.nalleygmc.com/showAssem...ssembly=380018 at least get you close. you shouldnt need an exact factory part unless you are really set on being perfect. any muffler shop should be able to take care of you.

Re: Third Gen Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

Thank you for the response. I realize finding this part is like a needle in a haystack unless I can find one used. I have this request under parts wanted but my Plan B is that I would need to get one fabricated. That's why I requested a photo because I have no idea what this looks like to describe it to a muffler shop. Stupid question here, but on that diagram, is it number 11?

I feel like it does matter, the idea behind an X-pipe, is to smooth out the "crowding" caused by cylinder 8 and 4, and 5 and 7, (same bank firing back to back), so if one leg going to the X pipe is longer enough, the crowded pulses may meet at the X instead of one crowd, and one void.

the hanger is #11. this item shoujld be fairly common on ebay or hawks third gen, house of camaro, etc. perry pam may have something like this. it is a pretty specific piece, but a few bolts and plates and a welder, it can be made.

its not in the description because its discontinued. notice it jumps from 10 to 12.

Re: Third Gen Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

edit. you may be better off using a 4th gen hanger and having it modified. save you time and money if a shop does it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-02-Camaro-Firebird-Y-pipe-Exhaust-Hanger-/271219378520?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f25ef4958&vxp=mtrdirect fit to the tranny, but not a direct fit to the pipe, but the pipe could be modded to fit the hanger pretty easily, imo.

Gotcha, thanks! I tried ebay and hawks, but by trying to plug in the GM part # I had...I will definitely dig into this further with the info you provided. I really appreciate it!

The GM part number does not usually get you anywhere on the aftermarket sites. GMPartsDirect, GMPartsEast, or parts.nalleygmc.com are good options for GM part numbers.

Searching for replacement parts, go by name, such as Google'ing "Camaro catalytic hanger".
Go here for 4th gen replacements... #29 on the trans for $31.53, which connects to #31 on the converter for $26.70.

If you REALLY want original there is this for $100. Or you can get lucky like http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-catalytic-converter-exhaust-bracket-hanger-Camaro-Firebird-Z28-Trans-Am-/390655645517?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5af4e4174d&vxp=mtr on ebay for $50.

I'll have to keep these handy for when I work on my Camaro exhaust.

I put them at the end of the mufflers. I've also experimented with them off the trans cross member but I don't think they're necessary there

Same here, the pipes are light and rigid enough that ones at the end will suffice.

OK cool. I have the universal hangers. So just use a self tapping bolt then or a regular bolt? It probably doesn't matter.

Re: Third Gen Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

375hp 327 sbc bored .030 over, Hedman full length tube headers, 3" collector into 2.25" pipes to an H-pipe just behind the trunk, into 3" Flowmaster Super 44's just under the rear bumper. Future project to cut the floor of the trunk on the passenger side and have the second muffler rotated out of the way like the other one.

Hedmans warped at the flange are being replaced this weekend with hooker ceramic coated shortys because they also rub the chassis on the driver side, with the high lift cam it "bumps" and knocks the car.

Hedmans warped at the flange are being replaced this weekend with hooker ceramic coated shortys because they also rub the chassis on the driver side, with the high lift cam it "bumps" and knocks the car.

That thing sounds badass! But the mufflers look like stevie wonder installed them. Level the left muffler and cut your spare tire area out so the right can sit the same way.

Re: Third Gen Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

I've seen the Nelson Camaro, It's just not fair....I'm getting some pics of my true dual exhaust to post on here just so you guys can see what I did. It's been inclement weather the last few days so I haven't been able to take them. Supposed to be nice tomorrow so that's when I'll get them and post them.
