Headers

What the heck happened to afforable headers? Ive been looking to unchoke my engine and remove my 1 5/8th headers and get a set of 1 3/4. however in searching i noticed slp doesnt make stainless anymore only ceramic coated and there 700$ same with heddman. It seems like paying 700$ is a rip off. I know my engine needs to breath but is it really worth the extra fraction of an inch. what gain can i expect pick up? I have heddman 1 5/8th shortys.

If I were in that situation, I would just grab a set of long tubes instead of staying with shorties that cost a fortune but don't help nearly as much.

Depending on local smog laws for him, that would be the best route. Most longtubes dont have air tube provisions or the ability to run cats due to an akward ypipe setup requirement.

True, I didn't even think about that. I don't usually worry about it since I'm in Florida, but I guess it's a bigger issue in other places.

Either way, I still wouldn't pay $700 for SLP headers that probably won't make the slightest difference in performance over what he has.

this brings up a good point, im not trying to jack ur thread but the flowtechs are 1.5 primarys vs. the 1 5/8 of the hedmans or whatever else, is a 1/8 inch really that much of a performance gain? just curiosity cause everybody hates flowtechs but i wanna know if the primary is the reason or not.

Flowtechs are CRAP. They aren't worth the $100 they cost brand new. Hell they'd have to PAY me to take a set of them.

No substitute for a 1 3/4 long tube header. 1 7/8 if you can afford it.

1 7/8th holy over kill. LOL my buddys big block doesnt even have those.

but i used to have a set of flowtech and they realy arent that good unless there on like somthing like a truck thats gonna need low end because they sure dont flow up top.

My question is tho is it worth the size difference? If I will see good gains i will upgrade.
