Longtube Showdown 68460 vs 2210

Let's discuss specs on longtubes.

Hedman 68460 vs Hooker 2210. Obviously, the BIGGEST thing the Hedmans have going for them is PRICE PRICE PRICE!

They have the same primary diameter as the Hooker shorties I'm running now. However, I do have a few concerns.

- Hooker 2210s have larger 1 3/4" primaries. I am currently running 1 5/8" primaries on my 2055 shorties, which seems to be doing very good. While I do not want to overdo the primary size and end up doing more harm than good (Raising the torque curve too high and eliminating that "Go Kart" feeling on the street), I don't want to impose a restriction, especially on spray (But then again my motor is 95% NA and will only be sprayed every once in awhile. So I do not mind sacrificing a bit of N2O performance if it means gains will be had while NA).

- Hedman Longtubes DO NOT have tuned primary lengths, while the Hookers do. You can just look at a picture of the Hedmans and see that the primaries are of differing lengths. Especially when comparing the driver side header to the passenger side. How much of a difference real world does this make?

Also, I have heard great things in regard to ground clearance on the Hedmans (Not a major concern but thought I'd throw that out there).

Engine specs are to the left. 334cid with 245cfm worth of intake flow. Normally spins a tad north of 6k. 222/230 cam with 536/579 lift. 110 LSA. It is a Stroker motor.

Re: Longtube Showdown 68460 vs 2210

The longer primary length is going to give you a massive bump in torque compared with shorties. The 1 5/8" vs 1 3/4" debate is dead.

Go 1 3/4" always. We are WAY past the power levels where a 1 5/8" primary is better.

Even a stock L98 benefits from LT's more than shorties.

About the only time shorties are better than LT's is below 2500rpm - 3000rpm depending on setup. And even then, once you nail the throttle how much time do you spend under 3000rpm?

Changing the plugs on my 2210's is way easier than it ever was with the 2055s. The only annoying thing about the 2210's is fitting them for the first time and having to re-route everything, and then getting a Y-pipe made. But thanks to the Hawks T56 double hump X-member my exhaust is tucked up more than it ever was with the 2055's.

I have plenty of ground clearance. More than my 2055's ever had.

Would you guys consider OBX Racers or Stainless Steel Works Longtubes?

I am going to swap out my Hooker 2055's for Hooker 2210. I think the 1 5/8 primaries have their place, but once you start moving some air; you need to let that air escape quicker. Your motor seems to be moving some air.

I've had good luck with my OBX 1 3/4" stainless long tube headers.

I wouldn't run a painted or coated header ever again.
