Can anyone Tell if this has been hollowed? I mean it sure looks it but the inner walls are smooth with no signs of anything removed or scrape marks from a tool. The pipe in the middle is the air tube. I replaced it with a straight pipe and felt a big difference in the performance dept. It is off a 91 with a single cat and 2.25" pipe.
Uh yeah that thing has been modded... or the honey comb blew utmost completely out!!!!
I pulled a Cat off in favor of a straight pipe and although didn't feel anything, I sure as hell can hear and smell the difference! I love running nothing now! Something about that idle smell...
Common here in NY where the cat(s) have to be in place to
pass NY yearly inspection on 75 + up cars.
Heck they even plug them in to the "tool of the government" to do the emission deal to check for SES codes before they issue the inspection sticker for the windshield.
You KNOW officer friendly can spot bad stickers from a MILE away!
I had to replace a test pipe with a cat when I bought a GTA from a state without inspections. KILLED the sound- I have a flowmaster 3" from manifolds back.
I'm so tempted to accidentally blow the core out of my high flow cat, accidentally.
