What Catalytic Converter are you using?

Hey all just curious as to what cat everyone is using now adays. I need a new one for cali smog coming up for me. Kind of hesitant to go with another magnaflow as my last one blew out in less than a year.

What cat are you using? P/N #?

Thanks all for info and advice

A cat converter should last a long time, but when something goes wrong
in front of it, the poor cat takes the abuse and gets blamed for the problem.

A rich condition, an out of spec system or a bad sensor will destroy a cat in no time.

Installed a Hi-Flow 3" in & out CATCO Cat with my SLP 2-OTL exhaust in 2002 and still in good shape today.

Re: What Catalytic Converter are you using?

I bought a Walker through RockAuto to replace my original (substrate cracked). I noticed there are different models for use specifically in California and New York, versus not. Check the specs on whatever you buy. When did these cars get dual cats? Might need two for an '88? Mine only has one.

Was recommended I replace all O2 sensors at the same time, which I did. For 86 there's only one, later cars I think have at least two.
