Header selection

Hey all,
I'm getting ready to install a 421 in my Iroc and am looking for headers. I'm looking at the ARH short tubes and Doug's long tubes. I really like the thoughts of the short tubes because of clearance and not having to change out my umi th400 crossmember. This engine will not be operating above 6500 rpm. what are your thoughts? I've read about some fitment issues with the Doug's and the lower control arm mount. Does anyone have firsthand experience with either of these choices? Thanks

Re: Header selection

Did you just get the headers or did you get any other exhaust pipes too?

They came with the pipes back to where the cross over is in the picture. I will install a cross over when I get them installed.

Will do. I should have them installed by the end of February. I started to order the 1 7/8” but was afraid it would be really hard on plug wires.

I see where the ARH sytem includes the pipes that merge into the collector. Is that where I would run a 3" high flo cat and the rest of my exhaust system?

This is massive overkill for your 1991 LB9 5.0L TPI/700R4 automatic Z28.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Header selection

If you get up under your car and look, you'll see that where the cat now is, is where the little "X" section in the ARH system goes. I'm having a hard time imagining exactly how, butt with some creativity, it might be possible to put a cat there (or 2 of them) instead of the "X" if that's what you want to do. I don't think there's any possible way to put the cat(s) anywhere else.

I would note also, that the pipes in that system, look like they would substantially complicate subframe connector installation.

RJ 1, what heads are you running? Got a part number for the heads?

How is the plug clearance?

I’m running the AFR Enforcer 200 straight plug 65cc . The plug clearance is fine. Actually better than the headman headers that I was running.
