1983 Z28 with a transplanted 87 305 TPI, transplanted 1986 Rear Disc Brake rear end, changing from Mass Air Flow to Speed Density system.
Long term project I have been working on. Replacing the brake lines and fuel lines with stainless steel lines from Inline Tube and Fine Lines. I have the front brake line that goes under the engine replaced with the new stainless steel one and both front calipers installed. Attaching the front brake hoses to the line (right side). The hoses seem a bit long but it has been a long time since they were on. I am confused to what the extra retainer section on the hose is for (arrow pointing to it on picture). I thought I had the wrong hose but checked numerous places and it is the correct one. Am I routing the hose wrong and missing a bracket? Is the new brake line too long? Or is this correct (see picture)? The left side hose is the same way. Want to be sure before I proceed.

Thanks in advance

Car has stock brakes. In the process of replacing the MC. and the lines. Pulled the rotors and they could use a refresh but they're so tiny! I've got the 16 gold lace rims that I'd like to keep. The calipers appear to be new.

I think I read that I can swap in the 12" C4 (maybe 13" ) rotors and be fine with it? Not sure if I misread or if there are any new developments in brake set ups. Maybe something slightly larger that will clear the 16's?

Trying to keep it budget friendly with a light upgrade if possible.

I recently started a parking brake cable replacement and rear brake replacement for my 1983 firbird which has drum brakes. The problem that i have run into is that it seems the rear right parking brake cable I purchased is too short. There are grooves that the previous cable sat in to hold in place, but this cable does not even reach to there. The brake cable for the left rear seems to fit fine and looks to sit in the same spot that the original cable sat in. The cable I bought was a DORMAN C93215 from Rock auto as that was the only cable online that explicitly stated to be for drum brakes (Brake Cable Link). I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue before or if there is a better part to buy with a correct length. I am pretty new to working on cars and have never dealt with drum brakes before. I will attatch the image showing how short the cable is to this post. There is a spring on the end of the cable that attatches to the brake and I can pull a little bit more but it becomes very tight which I assume is not wanted.
