1986 Pontiac Trans Am LB9 700R4
I picked up an '86 Trans Am about a week ago. It had been sitting and hasn't been started for 10 years. I bought it at a "safe" price so I could either a) fix it up and make money or b) part it out and make money. Turns out the engine is seized. Before I part it out I want to see if there is anyone here that will pay me what I have into it for the whole car, which is $550. The exterior of the car looks okay. It was repainted before it was put in storage. The car is a dark red/maroon metallic. Can't remember the name of the color. Garnet Red? It's mostly rust free, but has some rust in the rear wheel houses. The undercarriage has surface rust. While winching the car off the trailer the bumper cover and front right ground effect were damaged. I have replacements AND they're the same color! The interior is crap. Under the hood is dirty, but looks good. It has GTA wheels and hood, wrap around spoiler, T-Tops, 305, TPI, automatic, lots of good sheet metal. If there is anyone interested in a parts car or project email me at anthony.lenhardt@yahoo.com. And PLEASE, only contact me if you are actually looking for something like this. Don't ask me to take a hundred photos just because you're curious and want to know what it looks like. If someone is actually interested and can tell me "Yes, if I decide I want it, I have $550 to pay for this car" then I will take all the photos you want and answer all the questions you ask. I'll give it a few days, if nobody wants it, I'll start disassembling it. TGO members get first dibs of course.

any idea why the engine seized? I had this happen once due to a main oil seal leak (common problem) that literally emptied the oil; took it to a mechanic, dumped some oil in manually cranked the engine and it was running again all for about $250. Just a thought; might not be a total loss...sounds like a great ride hate to see it (or any bird) parted out.

No idea why it seized. I was thinking about squirting oil in the chambers, changing the oil and trying to turn it over by hand. But the car is outside at a friend's shop and the weather here in Syracuse is crap this time of year. They're too busy to let me play with it inside. I'd rather not part it out. This car is restorable and would make a great project. The center section of the t-roof looks excellent. You NEVER see that up here unless you're looking at a car that has been stored inside most of the time. Maybe someone else has the time and space to work on it.

This car is sold. I got $600, a profit of $50. With that said, how do I delete this thread?
