I have always loved the 3rd Generation F-Bodies. But growing up, I was never able to afford one. Now that I am older and more established, I wanted to buy the 3rd generation Trans Am I never could have before. As I thought about how to do this, I researched and looked at all kinds of options. My first thought was to purchase a car with more miles on it and then rebuild it – that’s how I came upon the Trans Am that I currently have for sale. Over time, though, I decided to just purchase one with fewer miles instead. Of course, this leaves me with a great Trans Am that I need to find a new home for.

I purchased this from another owner about 6 weeks ago, with the intent of completely rebuilding the car for my personal specifications. So, as I searched for a good car to start with, I was lucky to find a car that was already running and in good condition. The body is in good condition and the car has about 127,000 miles on its 305/5.0 Liter LB9 engine. It has a 4 barrel carburetor that was rebuilt by the previous owner.

After a lot of thinking about it, I decided that rather than spend the next 2 or 3 years (on my budget, anyway) rebuilding the car, it would be better for me to purchase a different car. This Trans Am is a really great driving car that is already close to being a daily driver.

As with any used vehicle, the car is sold as is, with no warranty or guarantee included. This Trans Am is a perfect car to get started with – really, with a paint job and some minor fixes around the car, and this would be a great car that you can brag about.

Highlights:

• 4 Barrel Carburetor version of 305CI/5.0L Engine produces 170 HP, stock – many options for increasing performance, if you want. Carburetor was recently rebuilt by previous owner.
• Automatic transmission – seems very smooth
• Headliner looks like it was replaced recently – very nice
• Previous owner installed a new dash pad, which looks very nice
• Overall, the interior is in very good shape, may need new carpet at some point in the future
• Black Leather seats were installed by the previous owner – they are from a 4th Gen Trans Am and look great. The power component of the seats needs to be hooked up to the car to make the motors work, though you can move them manually to get comfortable
• T-Tops are in very good condition
• Brakes work very well
• Approx. 127K miles (the odometer works perfectly, I just don’t have the exact mileage in front of me)
• Original AM/FM Stereo
• Power Windows and Power Door Locks
• In some states (including Virginia), this car is officially classified as an antique or classic car, so no need for state inspections, yearly license renewals, etc. All I needed was a one-time classic plate – check with you DMV for details on how your state handles a car that is 25 years old now
• Aftermarket wheels are included – I do not have the originals, but know where you may be able to obtain them, if you are interested in keeping everything in stock condition

Things to be Aware of:

• Needs to have shocks replaced
• Doors are a little difficult to close – they close well, but there seems to be a trick to the way it is done
• A previous owner put in a cut-off switch for the fuel pump, perhaps as a security measure. There is a switch underneath the dash that controls the fuel pump – make sure to shut this off or the battery will drain
• Seat belts are difficult to operate; they need to be pulled in just the right way to make them extend; probably a simple fix
• Some small spidering in the spoiler, but the spoiler itself is in good shape – with a re-paint, it would be perfect
• Very minor ding on the driver’s side door, should be easy to fix
