SOLD!!! Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

Trying to cut my collection in half so here are a couple cars for sale.

#1 1990 Formula Firebird in Silver Blue Metallic 305 LB9 Tuned Port Injection, 5-Speed, Performance Gears & T-Tops. 68,000 original miles, 1 of 480 with that drive line combination, 1 of 26 in that color and 1 of only 11 with the two tone treatment.

Car has been garaged all of it's life, mostly original paint (front bumper has been re-painted), as clean underneath as it is up top. Needs headliner and sway bar end links replaced, both of which I have & will go with car. Has a few vintage aftermarket parts on it - SLP cold air intake, B&M short throw shifter, Borla two on the left exhaust & aftermarket stereo. Drives beautifully, interior is near perfect, paint is typical of the period.

$8,500 OBO - I'll likely regret this!

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

#2 1990 Formula 350 Blackhawk Project car. 350 Tuned Port Injected car now with the SLP Firehawk T-Ram setup on it. If you follow these cars at all you will know that a running T-Ram car is about as rare as they come. Outside of the 20+ original Firehawk cars, almost none of the additional stock of intakes have been installed and are running on cars - this one even includes the ULTRA RARE cruise control system. Car also rides on a set of 17" Ronal wheels with SLP center caps to complete the look - also very rare!

Car was originally black but has been re-sprayed with a purple pearl in the paint that shows up in different light but is a little tired at this point. Needs a headliner and the sway bar end links replaced, both of which are included and also comes with a 1LE Aluminum drive shaft and replacement rebuilt 9 Bolt rear axle with the correct 3:23 gears - axle in the car is growling. I am also including the dual cold air intake setup that was only installed on the Firehawk Cars. This original SLP piece is rarer than any of the 60's/70's Ram Air parts and would complete the installation on this car.

Car is clean but has miles over 100k and will need to have a few hours spent on it to be where I would want it to be.

$12,500 OBO - I know I'll regret this one!

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

#3 1 of 4 1LE cars built by Pontiac for the 1990 model year, sold through GM's supplier/subsidiary system to it's first owner and delivered through dealer in Flint. Built by John Bennett for SCCA American Sedan class with the 91/92 Formula body panels and one of Pontiac's ultra rare aluminum hoods. It was raced by Jim Christ of the Toy Store in Florida in the early 90's including multiple poles, wins and track records at Road Atlanta, Sebring, Daytona and Homestead Miami. Currently restored to original race appearance under Sunoco sponsorship but legal for vintage racing with full cage, current net & belts, spec motor, super t-10 4 speed and Ford 9 inch locker. Full fire system, Accusump, fuel cell, spares and SCCA log book.

With over 2 million Firebirds & Camaros built between 1982 and 1992 there were only 1532 1LE cars built. Chevrolet produced 1,360 of them with Pontiac only building 172. This car has never been titled but still retains it's original VIN tag. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a rare factory race car that has been purpose built for the task and has excellent substantiated history.

Offered at $28,500 obo - interesting trades considered.

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

#4 1991 1LE Formula 305/5spd with T-Tops

This particular car was ordered three times before it was accepted into the system and once it was the original owner added everything he could to it! I am the third owner of this car with the original owner keeping it up until just a couple of years ago first in Wyoming and then Florida where he retired. Not having A/C he was no longer using it and sold it to the second owner who started with the interior restoration on the car - I purchased it earlier this year and completed the restoration on it.

Pontiac 1LE production is very low with only 172 units total being produced. The breakdown is as follows:

1988 - 3 Trans Am's
1989 - 26 Trans Am's
1990 - 4 Trans Am's
1991 - 46 Formulas, 62 Trans Am's
1992 - 22 Formulas, 9 Trans Am's

Of the 46 Formulas built in 1991, 9 of those were used for Firehawk production, 27 were 5 speeds like this one and 8 of them were built with t-tops! NONE of the camaro 1LE cars produced were ever built with T-TOPS!

This car is LOADED! Although the 1LE cars were traditionally low option "strippers" for showroom stock, this car comes with Power windows, locks, and mirrors, cruise, tilt, the upgraded stereo, rear defroster, 4 way adjustable driver's seat and the T-Tops. It also includes all of the 1LE performance options which include the oversized Borg Warner Corvette calipers on the Caprice rotors & bearings, specific spindles, shocks/struts, the World Class MK6 T-5 with specific gearing, the JG1 Aluminum Drive Shaft, N10 dual high flow cat exhaust, N64 aluminum spare tire, G92 3:45 performance rear gears and a whole lot more. It comes with excellent documentation with boxes & binders of receipts, is completely numbers matching and a blast to drive.

Third gen cars are now being recognized and are appearing on every published list of the cars to watch. This is a very unique opportunity to purchase a truly rare, factory oddity before the market hits.Offered at $28,500, interesting trades considered. I also have a 1968 RA II/Auto GTO project (1 of 47) Verdoro green over black I'm selling and my 1972 455HO/4spd LeMans Sport Convertible (1 of 14) in Lucerne Blue with white top & tuxedo interior (35 options) that I'll be letting go if anyone is interested.

What kind if price tag is on the 1972 LeMans? That's a nice car.

100% numbers matching, with all born with body panels and drive line components, 1 repaint, unrestored. It's actually a honeycomb car but the Rally II's are on it for storage - I have a set of NOS Honey's for it. I have it listed for $89k on the PY & Yenko boards but $85 would get it out of my barn. Basically a Judge convertible without the emblem.

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

I'm keeping my 71 455HO GT-37, my 71 455HO/4spd GTO Convertible, my 14,000 mile 73 Trans Am Custom, the 87 G92 IROC I ordered new and bought back two years ago, and (for the time being) my 91 1LE Z28 with leather. I'm also planning on buying back the 68 RA GTO I sold a few years ago which is now restored & was the first GTO I ever bought and am considering the 70 Judge convertible I sold a few years ago. I wouldn't mind picking up another 69 TA (had one a few years ago) or one of the 91/92 Firehawks, but I may be done with this whole car thing and may just move on to other goals.

Thanks Bob, just no fun when you've got so many projects and you can't even move around in the barn. I want to empty it out, pour the slab, get the lift in, the heat on & enjoy the cars again - but can't do any of that because I've got too much in my way!

If you had a 73 super duty trans am you would have them all. A very nice collection to say the least. Love those old hood tachs. Hood tachs should have made a comeback along with the new retro ford dodge and chevy pony cars. The camaro even got console gauges but the hood tach was my favorite along with cold air hoods like cowl induction.

When my 73 TA was modified in the 70's the owner had HO Racing build a SD motor for it out of over the counter Service Replacement parts. It was idling in the driveway one Saturday morning when the distributor gear broke and locked up the motor - that was 1980 or 81. In 2013 the car was put on eBay and was bought by a guy restoring a 74 Super Duty who took the engine for his SD & installed the W72 that's in the car now. I have all of the correct parts to build & re-install the SD and that's one of the projects I want to get to.

The shaker decal should be an almost perfect match.

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

Hi Chris, I can't BELIEVE your selling the SUNOCO BIRD. After finding this rare FORMULA, then restoring it, then showing it, then get it into a magazine, then-then-then= you get the picture. You will KICK yourself in the *** when this one goes down the road. I wish I had the COIN to get this baby and have a track to play with this, but don't we ALL. LOL to the new owner.
By the way, the 4th Gen 25th Anniversary is a huge improvement over the 3rd Gen in the way it rides and overall in the improvements PONTIAC made to this vehicle. I loved my Formula, but never had the chance to REALLY get into the 4th Gens attitude and it's really a lot more fun getting back into a 6-speed manual (which by the way I'am also getting a Hurst installed very soon. Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

Thanks guys - it was an easy sale once someone actually showed up. Typical of what I've been dealing with and why I may be tired of them - the battery was completely dead and the car needed to be jumped.

Ed, I'm no longer emotional about owning these cars - or letting them go. I have been very lucky at finding some incredibly rare & desirable cars in my lifetime and although they will continue to be an important part I think I may be moving on to other interests.

Low mile Astro Roof Grand National would be trade material for a couple of these - anyone?

Not a buyer here but just curious if this is the same 90 you have? May be worth mentioning the drivetrain has quite a few upgrades besides bolting on a t ram

Was the maui blue buyer on these forums? If so, I would consider buying the car for more than you paid. Reach out via PM.

Damn Eric, I think that is the car! Thank You!

List of mods, let's see, MSD 6AL box with MSD Blaster 3 coil,
adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 52mm throttle body, SLP T-Ram,
stock heads with port/polish/.010 shave and .010 thinner head gasket,
Edlebrock headers, 1.6:1 roller tip rockers (Comp Cams), 2500 rpm
stall converter 13 vane front pump, Red Eagle clutches and Kolene
steels throughout the transmission, Corvette Servo, .500 boost valve,
3.73 gears, weld-in sub-frame connectors, 17x9.5 Ronal '92 Firehawk
wheels w/275/45/17 tires, Flowmaster muffler, 3" in and out, "hi flow"
cats (dual cat set up), 200 amp AC Delco alternator, Pioneer AM/FM
Cassette w/6 disc changer, Pioneer 4x6 speakers in dash, Pioneer 6x9
speakers in sail panels, Pioneer 12s in cubby hole in back, along with
amps for the speakers, EQ w/crossover. Custom paint, Dupont 99K Black
with Dupont Sunset pearl mixed into the black paint.
I have the rest of the kit to eliminate the torque arm that adds a
crossmember, drive shaft loop, and lift bars making it more like a 4
point set up for the rear suspension. New carpet still in the box, as
well as SLP headers and probably some other parts laying around.

Damn it was cheap 6 years ago when Greg bought it - I paid more than that then shipped it back East. Good to see all the work that was put into it - are you interested in buying it?

If this year wasn't kicking me in the *** already I would make a serious off on the Blackhawk. Always wanted to do a clone but better. Nice collection.

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

I'm tempted to let my XKE go and do a LeMans/Blackhawk combo deal... but if I let my last British car go, I'm afraid I won't have enough things breaking around the garage to keep me in a complete panic anymore.

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

New pricing - 1990 1LE SCCA A-Sedan Trans Am w/Aluminum hood - $24,500

An amazingly rare car, 1 of 4 built by Pontiac in 1990 with an incredible race history!

1991 1LE/CC1 1 of 8 Formula - $24,500

Increadibly rare, 1 of 46 1LE Formulas built in 1991, 1 of 8 equipped with factory T-Tops. This is one of the highest option count 1LE cars you will ever find!

Re: Thinning the collection - few Firebirds for sale.

Still here, not pushing a sale at the moment, I like the car and if I'm going to keep one of my Formulas that one may be it.

Still available however if you want to bring cash. Likely doing a swap for a 69 TA with my 455HO LeMans Sport Convertible, guy was here on Friday to check it out.

Hi Chris,
I'm interested in your 1LE Formula 5 speed. How many miles does it have on it?

Wow Chris, I didn't realize your '68 was a RA II. I'm surprised Robert hasn't tried to scoop it up.
