Re: 1988 Formula 350 - 50K miles - super nice

Nice car but why did a 50K mile car need a new converter, rebuilt transmission, new brake lines, paint work, new sail panels, new radiator, repainted wheels and painted suspension parts?

Wiseguy - probably the same reason you "needed" to put NOS on a Z/28 .......all work was done by the previous owner, car sat in a garage for many years, it's 31 years old and sh*t happens, the previous owner wanted a highly detailed underside
and wheels that looked like new and were easy to take care of.....headliners sag with age, especially over 31 years, sail panels need to match the new headliner......... just what you are inferring???

These cars went through transmissions like crazy new, waranteed like crazy by dealers. The headliners were sagging on a lot of these cars after a few years.

I wasnt being a wiseguy! I asked a simple friggen question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Get off your high horse!!! Just because a car sits in a garage for many years doesnt justify the need for all those parts. A transmission AND converter? I can understand the headliner but not the need for a transmission, converter, paint, etc.

My transmission was already rebuilt by 80k mi and it was adult driven all its life. I don't think the work done to this Formula takes anything away from it. Clearcoat failing was a huge issue in this time period I'm not surprised a lil paintwork was needed either.

You've gotta be freekin kidding me?...........it's a 31 year old car and like I said Sh*t happens.......as you are so concerned about it, here is your explanation about the trans & convertor from the PO.....
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...blown-t-c.html
Have a read and let me know if this meets to your approval, if so, do you have any intention on making an offer? Because
if your not interested in buying the car your comments are not taken as being anything other than condescending.....

I’m the same kind of owner.. Some people are meticulous about keeping everything like new.

I can get down with that..

Looks like a 5k mile car and the reasons for that are upfront..

Priced fairly as well..

Nice car. I like it. Actually same color as my Formula. Two things strike me, how nice the underside is and YOUR GARAGE FLOOR, so clean.

Re: 1988 Formula 350 - 50K miles - super nice

The car is still 31 years old, miles are relevant in some regards in terms of value and having a nicer example but not others. So, who ever buys it is lucky that who ever owned the car fixed the issues, things go out with time. But when they're driven infrequently they tend to fall down the priority list of items in need of rectification. So when the next owner gets it, you're left with a bit of a laundry list of items. This one at least you can enjoy off the bat and buy in while these cars are still the good deals that they are.

This looks like an awesome driver all while looking like a new car. You aren't advertising it as a 100% original untouched example, nor is it priced as such, so I don't see the problem with repairing things that eventually degrade on every single one of these cars. Seems like a great deal to me, GLWS!
