Is there much difference in engine noise when standing outside the car with hood down. I'm tired of hearing engine noise or the bad engine noises like injector tick.

Maybe I worded my statement incorrectly. I know it's designed to suppress noise from the engine. But how effective is it? Did it cut the noise in half? I just ask because I felt the factory hood insulation on a 97 z was useless on or off it didn't really matter it was still noisy in a bad way.

My car hasnt been running since installing, plus I would be a bad test rat on your inquiry anyways, my car is very loud, I bought the piece because a bare underhood doesnt look good and my original one finally broke apart last year.

Don't trust Hawks. Prices are high and staff is not very knowledgable of parts on the third gen. Better off to work with Dennis at third gen ranch. Good guy who is great with customer service.

This is new aftermarket reproduction 1/2" hood insulation for a 1982-92 Camaro. It does come rolled up unlike the factory GM hood insulation which could not be rolled and has been discontinued. It will unroll to it's natural state. It is thicker than the factory original.

Heather, do you have any of these not rolled up? I don't like the look of the wrinkles in it when installed. If the wrinkles are because of the folding or rolling, is there any chance to get one unrolled? Like maybe a meet at the fbody gathering in May???

The wrinkles are not because it is rolled up, in fact it is folded up like like a tri-fold and packaged in an airtight plastic wrapper. I still have one that is still in the packaging I can show you. The wrinkles are because they're not molded to fit the exact contours of the under side of the hood. It doesn't bother me at all, it's much better than not having any insulation at all.

Hi Heather - just stumbled across this gp. Is it still open? Also, I assume you do not offer this piece for Crossfire cars where there is an opening for the flap assembly. Can the insulation you are selling be easily cut/trimmed to accommodate the cfi set up?

Yes, Call her Directly. She said Hawks is closed this week but I just got off the phone with her.

You have to call Heather at Hawks to get in on the group purchase. They do have the clips too, you can usually find them at your local auto parts store too though.
