The best I ever saw for L98 Camaros was
1989 IROC-Z 0-60 5.9 sec
1990 IROC-Z 0-60 5.8 sec 1/4 mile 14.8 sec
THe 305cid 5 speed(230hp)cars never could get below the lower 6 sec and 15 sec range which put them MARGINALLY slower than the 5 liter 225 hp Mustang (of course the 350 cars were quicker).
THose numbers are from 1989 Motor Trend, 1990 Motor Trend and 1992 CAr Craft.

The 1990 IROC was rated at 240 hp. Since the 1991,92 Z28 were rated at 245hp they should be capable of of the same times if not quicker but I never saw a test of the L98 Z28 for '91,92. It's like the magazines boycotted those cars because of the mandatory auto and instead put the 5 speed cars up against the Mustang in the shoot-out tests. For some reason all the tests I saw of L98 Firebird models had 0-60 around 7.4 sec ?! which I don't understand since it was the same engine even if it was rated 5 hp less than the Camaro.
Anybody got a test of a 1991,1992 L98 car?

I dont know about 0-60 but all of my 1/4 miles times have ranged from 13.90 @99mph(1991 1LE Z28 L98) to 14.20-14.40 on all of my other L98 Z28's and B4C's from 1991 & 1992. My last B4C was running 13.80's with free mods except exhaust.

My 87' L98 does 0-60 in 6.2 and 14.5 1/4 mile. 225 HP, 330 lb ft torque. So a 91 92 245 HP should run 6 flat and 14.2 Sounds fair to me.

How they squeezed an extra 5 HP out of the engine in 1991, Same heads, pistons, cam, exhaust, intake and just about everything else... Only difference maybe the chip...

Its funny. There was a thread about a month ago in the "StreetRacing" section. And some children were claiming no L98 thats near stock could run anything better than a 14.8 or something.

Re: 90-92 z28 camaro stock times

GM would underrate the cars, and motor trend and road and track wouldn't always get the true numbers on the cars 0-60 and 1/4 mile and if they did they fixed them nicely. and when you are the guy competing with a 91-92 L98 the only thing you can do is hate and boast about how slow you read it was, until you get beaten by it then they pull out the "That;s not stock no way! You modified the crap out of it!" loser speech

The 5.0 G92 cars were capable of mid 14's in the 1/4, and 0-60 in the low 6 sec range. Just a tick slower than a comparable L98 car of the same years.

And here's a Youtube Video I found of stock 3rd Gens running 1/4 mile times, it was so hard to find this video I hope nobody deletes it, first one is an LO3 5.0 TBI RS Convertible running 17s.
second one is a LB9 G92 Iroc 5.0 TPI 5speed 230hp running 14.7s and the last one ( My favorite )
is a '92 Z28 Exactly just like Mine, proving mine is one of the fastest 3rd Gens, which is sort of a Legend because nobody believes it LOL

1992 Z28 25th Anniversary Dark Teal Metallic L98 5.7 TPI 245hp/345trq Auto G92 stock running 14.5s
