75th anniversary promo car and tray...?

Got this from Goodwill. The car is a brown promo with 1984 on the rear. The tray says "GM Building on 75 years of excellence".

I've never seen these... were they given to dealers or plant workers?

Never seen that before either. Looks like something GM would hand out to employees and preferred dealerships.

Nice find!

Not sure if they are a set, but they must be! I got them from a person (works at Goodwill) in Flint, Michigan... hmm....

I've never seen one with that logo on the side before, but it's not unusual to see one of these promo cars. I have four of them myself. As far as I know they were available in dealer parts departments in the 80's. I bought all of mine in the swap meet areas of different car shows.

the norwood plant one is a limited one. I think ours is only one of 500 I have to find the letter that went with it. We have almost all of the 2nd,3rd & 4th gen Camaros & we have none of the 1st gen ones because they are $$$$$$$

We also have almost all of the 4th gen firebirds & several of the corvette promos.

I know of only one person that has almost all of the promos & I ended up giving him a 73 promo that he didnt have.

The Person I have emailed answered back.
Geez Louise, I'm older than dirt............however, this is the first time I saw something like this.......of course, at the time, I was in the field at GM, not at the Tech Center........I've sent your note on to a few peeps to find out more........

So if this is the first time he has seen anything like this then I am beginning to wonder if its either Rare or not made at all or someone just put things together.

From what I found out about mine, it was given to certain employees at the Flint, Michigan plant in 1984. Pretty cool since that plant isn't even there anymore!!

Aaron from what I just got back he said it must have been for some of the employees, because none of the guys he emailed knows anything about it. & you have to remember most of these guys are GM employees hes been talking to. So keep it & put it in a case & show it off.

If you find a couple more of them Let me know please. I would love to get my hands on them.

Thanks
Tammy

I don't believe those to be anything special. The US Camaro Club is no longer in existence and these were just stickers they put on the dealer promos. If they were actual sets from GM, then I'd say they could be worth the asking price.

Ok this is disturbing,
The guy is selling the same item twice, There are 2 different e-bay item numbers, but only one certificate of Authenticity. Both of them are # 0168

I will ask him when I get back home. I plan on getting an extra one for SS. He needs one in his collection.

Take a closer look. Both have certificate #168, but they are different. One is to commemorate the 20 years of Camaro from 1967 to 1987, and the other one commemorates Norwood from 1922 to 1987. The owner probably got these at the same time from USCC and requested the same #. I've seen this done with the numbered die cast collectibles also.

Re: 75th anniversary promo car and tray...?

Does anyone know if the CPC Norwood Promo Car was given to employees at Norwood? That seems like such a specific thing to print on the side of the promo car if it was just given away at dealerships to interested buyers.

I'm working on a feature film documentary of the Norwood plant, so any info is useful...thanks!

You can view the trailer for the doc and sign up for email updates on when it will be finished at our Facebook page:
