Bandit II Limited Edition?

Curious about something. Last night I passed a Pontiac that looked like a TransAm, and as I went back to go look at it it said on the lower side door panel "Bandit II" & "Limited Edition", on the hood it said "5.0 INJECTED"........Curious, how rare is this thing?
Car is all white with t-tops and a HUGE freaking bird on the hood. Sarting with the 8th digit of the VIN number- EXLL .....That was all I could read.(raining at the time) I think its a 90 by the check letter but not positive. Any confirm?
With out hearing it start or seeing to much of the interior inside, except that it was grey and very very clean from what I saw, is it worth more or less than 4200?...

TIA

Regardless of what its worth, I think its a farce. I've never heard of a "Bandit II" 'Bird, especially on one that's close to a '90.

There was a Bandit edition T/A put out in '82 or '83...I have a Motor Trend test on it if anyone has any questions about it. It was an aftermarket job too, BTW.

I've seen one of those Bandit II birds around my town also. It was a dark forest green with a shaker hood and a hood-bird like on my 79TA. It said 5.0 on the side of the shaker, and BanditII on the bottom of the doors. it was a 90. I looked at it at a car dealership. They wanted 5,500 but it was rashed.

Hey Brad,
Are you sure you saw one? I mean it could be a farce seeing how Jason hasn't ever heard of one being close to a '90.....

Actaully, Motor Trend Magazine recently had a Firehawk in it (10th anniversary) with a "Smokey and the Bandit" paint package, but it has the 5.7 in it

I bought a book at Barnes&Noble entitled "Muscle Car Color History-Firebird&TransAM 1967-1994".Pretty cool book.Anyway ,they list a "BanditII" version firebird in 1988.No stats just a pic of the rear bumper that says "BanditII" just above the exhaust.

What Dave84 has posted sounds VERY much like what I was thinking of when I mentioned there was one that came out in '82-'83. The ugly rear spoiler sounds right too! I didn't remember that it was called a Bandit II, but it probably was!!

I still think anything close to a '90 is a sticker job. I have 4 different Firebird books, and not one mentions a Bandit option that new. I'm not saying you guys didn't see them, but I still believe it was an aftermarket, or dealer-installed, stripe job.

This has come up before, have you checked the archives? Everythign I read in the first post is the same as I've read before. Some people have said they've seen 91's dressed as a Bandit II... so who knows?

Bandit II cars were custom cars that were customized by a company in Tenn. called Choo Cho customs(they also did vans and P/U trucks)they came in Black, red, green, white with 2nd gen hood birds and a fake shaker looking hood scoop they also had a customized interior such as wood paneling and buffed aluminium dashes and special wheels and other outside things with gold striping only, all the engines were the base 305s and were untouched, they were an appearance pkg and were all were Firebirds not T/As or Formulas for the 3rd gens they were made from 87 to 92 I had a 92 Red and I have seen at least 7 others all years, there is not a lot of these cars cause is not a Factory option but more of a dealer option, believe it or not they also made 4th Gen conversions I saw 1 in a car show in FT Lauderdale FL last year it was a 95 Formula with all the typical Bandit II Regalia, how much are they worth, who knows they are different and you dont see 1 evryday but they are still base FBs, I got a lot of looks in mine but that was it,there is probably a following out there for them but not in this forum since no 1 knows about them.

I've seen one here in my home town. It was a '91 "Bandit II", black with a tan interior. It was in rough shape, and the owner claimed it to be 1 of 10, or something like that? He wanted $10, 000 for it, I don't care if it was 1 of 2, there was no way I would pay ten g's for a car in that shape. My GTA looks a thousand times sharper!!

Continuing this 18 year thread bump, honestly, since it's a 1990, I'll bet there isn't too many of those around! No idea what it's worth, but it looks decent from the photos.

Re: Bandit II Limited Edition?

Well... If you had a basic TBI Firebird, and the Bandit II version of the same car sitting next to it, and everything else about the cars was equal... I'd imagine the value would be the same, and the stock car would sell faster.

Re: Bandit II Limited Edition?

Saw this one at summit racing last year, nothing special outside of the decals to me. Especially didn't care for the non functional stick on scoop.
