1989 IROC-Z28 COPO Camaro???
ok,
Here is the story. I bought this 1989 IROC-Z28 from a guy that brought it up from Las Vegas. He told me all about it and things. He said that his cousin got it from a guy that bought it from the Vice President of General Motors.
I was like, ehhh cool. didn't think it was true but loved the car and it was the right price so I bought it.
When I was looking at it, I noticed a number on the rear view mirror. You can read it from outside, and see it through the windshield. The number is 7393-9 and just the other day I bought some Fog lights from a guy that works for a chevy dealership. He looked at my car and saw the the number on the mirror and said that it is a COPO number??? Does that sound right? I was told that COPO cars were special order cars that executives could order and get, and was told some were 1LE cars, etc.
I was curious about the VP owning the Car, so I did a VIN Check, car fax report or something.
The first time the car was ever licensed and registered was April, 1996. I was told the car was a show car for awhile, and with it being first licensed and registered in 1996 I am believing it did belong to him.
Can anyone help me find anything out about this car??
How much would something like this be worth? I plan on keeping the car and making it even nicer than it is
Thank you in advance, Let me know

Re: 1989 IROC-Z28 COPO Camaro???
Alot of companies provide a number to be placed on the backside of a mirror for parking in their lots during business hours. if you don't have a number or sticker, the car can be towed.
The numbers this guy is thinking of is the number placed on the outside of the windsheild where a state inspection sticker usually is placed. He has no clue. The number on the windshield was usually tied to a special event vehicle like what's used in Indy as festival cars. In 2002, the Camaro SS was used as the Brickyard 400 driver introduction vehicles. There were only 57 produced and they were rare cars because it was the first time that a car had an RPO code that designated it as a festival or parade car. The code was Z7D and the car's number was placed on the windshield and under the rear license plate. What makes these cars considered COPO cars is the windowsticker shows the delivered to location as General Motors instead of a dealer. Again, this was only for 2002. No other Camaros were designated as COPO, however, the 1LEs are being considered as close as you can get. The COPO designation carried an order number of 9560, 9561, 9010 etc. The 3rd generation cars did not get special codings for factory ordered cars like the original COPO series.

Ok, How can you tell if it is a 1LE, etc?
And Scott, you are saying that the numbers on the rear view mean nothing, except for parking or something?
