ever hear of the magnum iroc?
i have an original copy of a 1986 Hot Rod magazine, ford vs chev. on the cover it has an irocz facing off with the mustang gt.
anyways it has a small column talking about a man named dennis mecham. dennis had a performance shop in az and he did performance upgrades that had a full factory warranty. his cars were sold at a selected few dealers and you had a choice between the magnum iroc, or the macho trans am.

Re: ever hear of the macho iroc?
sorry for the double post.
this guy would beef up the drivetrain. install a 350 or 400 sb, a dana 44 rearend with a sweet little nash 5-speed, with full factory warranty!
looking at the pictures, the exterior of the cars have bigger spoilers on the rear with a few more decals on each side. the iroc has the factory wheels but the t/a's look different. i wonder how many of these were produced!
the magazine is old but in case any of you would like more info from 1986. mecham racing(p.o. box 310, glendale, az 85311, 602-842-1324

i had never heard of either one of them. but as i was looking through the magazine i spotted the iroc with the extra decals and the t/a was right above it.

Seen plenty of Macho TAs, but this is the first time I've heard of a Magnum IROC.

Re: ever hear of the magnum iroc?
if you want to see a picture of this car, go to bing.com and type in magnum irocz. go to the link talking about dennis mecham racing and you'll see the picture.
i would love to have that rear spoiler on my car but it cost 500 bucks! i think i'll pass on that for now.

Re: ever hear of the magnum iroc?
i have seen a couple of macho T/As before but never a magnum IROC. it actually looks pretty cool, i think if you took off some of the stickers that thing would have been one sweet machine back in the 80s.

Did the Macho/Mecham Trans Ams also get the Dana 44 rear axle and get lowered 1 inch? I never knew they came with those upgrades.

Re: ever hear of the magnum iroc?
I want to think it was one of the options, along with the 400 ci engine option...
I have a magazine advertisement from Mecham from back in 1982 - 1984ish era that states some of the options IIRC...
